Nowadays, many modern yo-yos offer the option to take apart, modify and customize their parts. Most are designed to be easily taken apart. This allows for the parts to be changed or upgraded, such as the axle, axle components, string, response system or grips, but also allows older parts of the yo-yo to be replaced. Many yo-yos have replaceable or changeable return systems, to allow the user to customize the yo-yo return system to suit their needs. It’s also possible to modify the diameter of most modern yo-yos, or to modify the space in between each disc to allow for more ease when performing string tricks. These options can be very helpful for beginners as they allow the user to customize the yo-yo to suit their skill level as they practise and improve.
